Tesla Model 3 Highland Trunk Storage — Making the Most of Your Boot Space

- tesla model 3 boot organiser
The Tesla Model 3 Highland has a more practical boot than most people expect — but there's a notable design quirk: beside each rear wheel arch, there's a recessed cavity that's essentially wasted space. Without a purpose-built organiser, items slide into those cavities and become hard to retrieve. The highland also has no boot liner standard, so liquids go straight to carpet.
The Trunk Side Storage Cavity — What's Actually There
On both sides of the Model 3 Highland's boot floor, beside the wheel well cut-outs, there are recessed compartments roughly the size of a shoebox each. They're deep enough to store charging adapters, a first aid kit, jump cables, an umbrella, or shopping bags. Without a fitted organiser, these spaces are awkward to use — items shift and tip.
Highland Trunk Side Storage Organiser
The Model 3 Highland trunk side storage organiser is a custom-shaped TPE tray that drops into this cavity on either side. The TPE material is waterproof, easy to wipe down, and holds its shape in Australian heat. It's available in two versions:
- Without cover: open-top access — good for items you reach for frequently like charging cables and adapters
- With flat cover: creates a completely level boot floor — useful if you carry flat items like boards, boxes, or dogs
Why Generic Boot Liners Don't Solve This
A standard boot mat liner covers the main boot floor but doesn't extend into the side cavities. Without a side-specific organiser, the cavities remain awkward gaps. The Highland's side organisers work alongside a boot mat — not instead of one.
Fitment Note
Pre-Highland Model 3 boot accessories don't fit the Highland's reshaped boot floor. The Highland's rear wheel arch shape and floor contour changed with the 2024 redesign. Always confirm "2024+ Highland" fitment before ordering any boot accessory.
Complete Boot Setup
For a complete Highland boot setup: side organisers on both sides + a TPE boot mat liner over the main floor. The Tesla Model 3 Must Have Bundle includes the trunk side storage alongside all 6 other interior essentials for $430 — saving over $148. Browse the full Model 3 Highland accessories range →
